kx1200.1 amp tuning

Ok i am having prob, geting the amp and subs set right. subs are 2 12l7-4 going into the kx1200.1 at 1 ohm well like 1.3ohm. I can not here any distorion but some times i can smell them geting hot or some thing the xover is at 80hz the gain is at about 1/4 of the way up bass boost is all the way down. the hu is on +2 to +4 on sub out . the subs and amp is only 5 days old

if you can smell them getting hot turn them down. and that xover is way too high i would think.

*edit* same thing happeend to my friends 2 12" eclipses sealed. they were loud as **** and **** good. no distortion was audible, but we smelt something burning, so he turned it down. they were off of some crossfire amps i believe.

i have tolk to a few people from kicker and that is where they told me to put the xover at but they did say that they would have that smell some times intell they get broke in but some thing dose not seem right

i'd back off of the gains a bit for a while and see if it does it. i never noticed a smell with mine and mine were new when i bought them. also do you have your loudness feature or bass boost on the hu turned on?

If they are new, it is the glue burning off the voice coils.

no they are not but it is not loud hell i can here my cell phone ring. and the voume is on 20to 21

sealed isn't gonna be very loud. ported is gonna be alot louder.

they are port the sound shop i got it all from bild the box what it is tund to i do not no

cuz i had a prefabbed slot ported box for 2 12's off the same amp that were pretty loud, even though it was smaller than recommended. i'd take it back to them and ask them about the box. should be 2.25^3 PER CHAMBER after displacement for ported. minimum.

sure it's not wired at 2 ohms instead or one is out of phase? other than that i'm out of ideas. g/l
