Konaki motor VS 9500 motor (David Team PSI)

What is so bad about the spider packs on dd/aq/aq copper? I think the aluminum has better spiders but what is "bad" about them do they get really loose over time or just not good from the start as in no mechanical power handling. Ive noticed my 10" copper hdc is getting loose but still pretty stiff.

they spiders are 7.3 which need to be 8". the spiders are really soft and stacked 7+ deep which = alot of friction. the leads **** too stacked between the spiders...

i'm sure dave can take a dd motor put a 12 spoke and better soft parts and make it louder...

The difference is in the Pole OD and Top Plate ID.
The Konaki has a larger gap, therefore it has a lower gauss number in the gap. That's not such a bad thing though, as it can accept an 8 layer flatwound coil. It's sort of a trade-off. You get a coil that will handle more power, but takes more power to get the same end result.

The Konaki has pretty much the same cooling slots as the 9500 motor.

If I had a choice between the two, I'd take the Konaki.

The DD motor isnt made in the USA either BTW. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
i have four on some 18s, and getting ready to dropp a 8 layer flatwound in em as well.

Most of the gain was probably from the soft parts difference I'd say.
Well, being that these are db drag competitors, I'm sure they tried different softparts.

But either way, the 9500's were like 1.5 dB louder. Thats a big difference in a limited power street application, even if it is only the softparts.

I have to try them heads up again, but I'm fairly certain that my 9512F is over a db louder than my HD3, which has the same softparts.

X2 on that. The DD motors are stronger even with same softparts. The DD softparts are also the most durable. With every other thing I've tried, the suspension fatigued and was usually down by 1db after about 6-8 burps.

I have never had an issue with my 9500's suspension or coils for that matter clipping 3000+ watts to each woofer for extended demos and street beat runs and have not lost even .1db in a year of beating the subs daily. By the way a 8 layer coil is not needed IMO unless feeding crazy power....the dd 4 layer coil has taken 10000+ watts and been finr on a burp. The spiders are lamenated together and there might be some friction but it has not been an issue.DD uses quad leads on all their woofers stock. I know of alot of people still using the same dd sub that was built 5 years ago and it still pounds to this day.
