Knukoceptz alt died

I don't frequent these forums much anymore, but 11 months ago I picked up one of knu's h/o alt's and it took a dive on me last week. I probably had it installed for 9-10 months; more like 9 since I didn't install it right away. I'm not gonna bother contacting knu cause their alternators only have a 6 month warranty. I'm just posting this here cause I know you guys refer them alot and someone here might be interested in this info.

I don't know if I was just unlucky or not but in the case of my vehicle knu was the only place I could find that had an alternator for my car w/o making custom mounts, I'm a little upset it died cause I had to go back to a stock one.

first, a "H.O" alt is totally pointless for what you are running in your sig.

secondly, wtf is a knuconceptz alt lol

and lastly, if it possible in your engine bay, next time have a bracket made, and run a second stock alt, its great //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

more amperage than a single "H.O" alt, but with all the reliability of a stock alt.

Alt was supposed to be 160 amp max, 90 at idle, paid 200 + shipping.

It was on an '01 saturn.

zx 1.1 and 350.4, stock delco battery.

It worked great for a lomg time but about a week before it completely went the batt light started coming on randomly cause it wasn't charging. The system I have I don't think is what caused it to die cause it's not that much of a drain overall anyways.

dude you are a douche bag. stfu

I just found out about Knu Konceptz alts last night. I was excited, because I've heard nothing but good things about their equipment. Unfortunately, they don't have an alt listed for my vehicle.

I guess I'll get my next alt from mechman, because I'm yet to hear a bad word about their stuff. Just sent out the email earlier this evening, and I'm interested in seeing the price quote. I'm going to stick with Knu Konceptz wiring and RCAs, though. Speaking of which, do you guys thnk the KL3 cable would be okay for car audio use? I know it's labeled as in-wall cable, but I'm really considering it. Seems like quality stuff to me...

might want to give KNU and call and ask them about it. like a year ago I inquired about one for my car and though they said they didnt have one, they said that they can modify (rewind, or something to that effect) the stock one and get more power from it. iirc (again i could be wrong, its been a while) they wanted like 80 bucks to turn my stock, 70amp alt, into a 160 amp alt. i considered getting one from a junk yard or something and trying it but then decided against it.

maybe your battery is dying, and caused your alt to fail.
And I'm assuming knu's "perfect stock fitting amp" is just a stock saturn 01 alt with upgraded internals. Ask them about it, they have good service.
Battery is still good, car starts fine and it holds a steady 14. It did die on me a while ago, but thats cause it got impounded and sat in a yard for a week with the radar detector still on. Gave her a jump and it was fine.

The alt itself was rewound yeah, but it wasn't off of a saturn. The wiring harness pigtail was different from that of my stock wiring and I had to splice in a pigtail they gave me. Before I installed it I took it up to a auto parts store to have it bench tested and they couldn't figure out what kinda car it came from.
