You have much experience with these? I here they like to explode... I was looking into a 3-post a while back and everyone was telling me to stay away but I am possibly looking at running a 16V setup again so....?

Yes i have experience with these. If u plan on running these U need to make sure u use(discharge) both 12v and 16v side. Main reason for them to "explode"(more like konk out) is only charging the 16v side with out discharging it...... So, things to remember is:
1) charge on the 16v only
2) use(discharge) both 12v and 16v(otherwise expect malfunction)
3) dont charge over 19.2v for comps and 18.5 daily

OK... I have to check out a couple things with my system and I will get back to you shortly. Would I be OK running my mids amp (Crunch P1800.4) from the 12V post? I guess I am just not 100% clear on how these work to be honest, does the 12V post sit around 14.4V when the vehicle is running with 18.5v~ form the alt to the 16V post?
Basicaly I would be running a HO alt with ext. reg at about 18.5V back to a 3Kw~ rms amp and running the P1800.4 off of the 12V post...
LOL... then I will ptu it in here for others to see and may be someone can answer it...
Does the 12V post stay at a pretty constant 12.7V then? Or does it drop like a regular 12V when current draw is put on it?

Mine stayed at 12.7 with a 100.4 sundown and a 250a EA alty with an external regulator.... I also had the alty to 3 8400 16v batts
