Kind Of A Dumb Question

Alright, been lurking around this site for some time and decided to join the other night so, hello all. I have a set of subs that say the mounting cutout dia is 11 1/8, I do not plan on building my own boxes nor paying someone mass amounts of money to do it. I have came across a few prefab sealed boxes that I believe would get the job done but they all have mounting cutouts of 11''. My question is would I be able to squeeze my subs into a 1/8'' smaller hole without having to take a chance on messing the boxes up myself? Thanks in advance.

wat up niqqa, If you want a box, always let the subs breath a lil bit. You don't want the magnet to be pressed up against the box inside.

Honestly, i say you build your own box, sealed, u say u want, is rather easy to build. MDF is 25$ at lowes, and tools can be sold cheaply too. All you need is a jigsaw, circular saw, drill, and your good to go.

you can get someone on here to build you a awesome sealed box built to your own subs specs and they wont charge much at all. this is what i suggest doing. most prefab sealed boxes are way small but to answer your question i thinkit will fit just fine.

If you are planning to buy the pre fab box, i would just sand the 1/8" you need to fit the subs properly. But like SlappinBass already mentioned, i owuld try to build my own enclosure

you can't fit a 11-1/8" sub basket in an 11" opening - FYI making holes larger is a PITA, you're basically using a jig saw to trim off the opening.

you never mentioned what sub you have - no one can comment on the box until we know the sub and the specs.

He not talking about mounting depth, rather the sub cut out.

1/8" is nothing. Like mentioned above, you could probably just sand it and make it large enough.

His sub probably has an 11" I.D. and the manufacturer simply recommends cutting the hole 1/8" larger.

This.

Most likely, your sub will fit just fine, it's better for it to be a little snug than to have a gap. If it doesn't, it wouldn't be hard to sand 1/8" off...
