kickers vs duals (beginner)

Man I was set on those sa subs plus the aq amp. The amp was sold. Could you all help me out and post an amp that would do those subs justice? I don't know what I should be looking for to match up with the sa subs specification wise.

Thanks for all the help so far.

In all honesty, I'd just wait around a couple weeks and see what else you learn through the forum. I know when I first joined I was totally set on some things, then learned some more and got new ideas and bought totally different gear. And now I'm looking at something entirely different again. $500 for subs and amp is a great starter budget. I think I have about $700 total put into my car; granted, I buy used to get really good deals.

Unless you're in a time crunch though, I'd try to wait just a bit to get more familiar with all the different products and brands available. Keep in mind if you want a ported enclosure, it'll need to be designed and built per your subwoofer and specific application if you want it sounding even halfway decent. Those tend to cost anywhere from $100-$200. wiring kit is usually around $50. If you go with a sealed enclosure, you can buy a pre-fab one for around $40 usually and you'll be ok if you get one of correct internal volume for your subwoofer.

Subs and amp, you can easily find a good combo used for under $300.

I would just build the box if you are halfway decent with power tools and glue. :p I can design you a simple one for free and you can just build it. It will sound way better than a prefab and would only cost 50ish bucks and also be much stronger than a prefab if done right. I cant remember what impedance those subs were but if they are each dual 2ohm, you will want an amp that can do full power at 2 ohms. if they are each dual 4ohm, you will want an amp that does its power at 1 ohm.

I am in a time crunch so I went ahead and got the two sa 12" subs along with an alpine mrp m1000 amp. I think this is an alright setup so far. Opinions?

Also my friend who spared me the empty sub woofer box gave me all of his old wires...are these any good?

Man I would love it if you could design a box for me.

Your going to try to move 2x sa-12's with a 1000 wrms amp? Mine are on an aq2200d and still need more.

most of it is okay, just try to pick up a 4g power and ground wire at least. people will sell a few runs of 0 gauge wire for cheap if you just need a few feet for a ground and a long run for +12v. also, go ahead and hook the amp up and use it but keep it for sale until you get a good enough offer. that way you are advertising it but still able to use it and when a good deal comes along, you can cash in and try to upgrade.

a box is easy, just let us know what type of music you mainly listen to and also what car you drive and the dimensions of the trunk (or wherever the box is going)
