My friend had one he ran, it ran for about 5 min then cut off. He left it like that till he fried it...

it played for like 10 secs. then it clipped. I wired it up to 2ohms now tho. but wow!!! it wanged for those 10 secs. lol

In the right conditions, yes. My 2500.1 has been running at 1 ohm for over a year now and has never went into protect.

Having the ability to keep your voltage up, keeping it placed in a well ventilated area of the car, not pushing it to the extremes, etc.

According to the manufacturer it shouldn't; but that doesn't mean that it can't under the right conditions as stated above.
