Kicker ZR240???

My buddy picked up a pair of JL 12w6 subs in a sealed box with a Kicker ZR240 for $300, Killer deal, wish I could have bought them.

The seller said the amp was 1,000 watts. Could he have been thinking of peak power or is he just full of it. I read online that they could be modded to put out more power?

What is this amp actually making RMS?

he full of it that amp if my memory serves me correctly is 2 x 40 watts 2-channel amp, look it up on kicker.com.

I don't think it does 1000 watts...but I could be wrong...I'm thinking about half that...my XS50was rated at 667 watts at 1ohm...

The ZR240 will make at most 450 at 2 ohm mono.

Its rated at 240watts at 4 ohm mono. It will run down to 1ohm stereo and 2ohm mono. The amp is underated, I know I have 2 of them.

All of the 240's i had was over 500 on the birth sheet and if you fed it enough you could get almost 600 clamped. But on the normal alt and normal batt I clamped my best one at 480 watts.. Good solid amps i had 12 of them at one time.
