Kicker sup problem... help ?

Alright, I have a Kicker KX700.5 five channel amp, with a kicker cvr 12" dual 4ohm sub, 1.75 cubic foot ported box, infinity 3 ways, boston 2 ways

the gain for the sub channel is set to full, bass boost to 15 out of 18, frequency is at 100 out of 200

gain for the speaker channels is at 3/4 of the way

sub is rated to 400wrms @ 2ohms, amp is giving it about 410wrms

speakers are getting almost their full rms potential

Now, the problem is, that when i have the volume on my cheap pioneer deck set anywhere from 18 to 25 range, the bass on the sub dies for about a second, and then works again, and it does this very frequently

ps. I had two 10 gauge kits running in my car and just combined them, so basically the amp is running on 5 gauge wires now

Why is your gain set to full?

The amp probably has clipping protection, and it's cutting power because you're clipping the **** out of the signal.

And why would you buy a decent amp and run "two 10 gauge kits?" Set your gains correctly, and buy a decent power kit. A 4 gauge kit from walmart is like $30.00.

Your driving the amp into clipping, which is shutting the amp down. Keep it up much longer and you'll eventually be without a sub....turn the gains down, theres no need to have them up to full, heck, 3/4's might be a bit too much...

There is a thread floating around, I think in the amp section, on how to properly set your gains, check it out, and turn them down and everything will be right as rain....

You'll want to look into getting a better wiring setup eventually, 2 10 guage kits is kinda....well...ghetto. and bound to be a problem area one day.
