Oh, and per Polecat's sugguestions, that's a bit small of a box for an L7. If you can, find a decent dealer, and see if he'll let you try one out in that box. Might work.

We've had our ... fair share ... of tall tales out of recently registered members. Take no offense. We had to actually ban one for not being able to say anything intelligence / coherent for several consecutive weeks.

i've heard the type x and i'm not too impressed, one of my main reasons is that alpine doesn't even produce an amp to power their sub - go figure....

i'd say stay w/the type x but if you were starting from scratch i'd get the L7 but remember who you're talking too - eh i got a w7

Type x is supposed to be more of a SQ sub that gets loud while the L7 is built more towards SPL.

i know the box is to small for the l7 because its a custom box bult by abt for the type x but if i got the l7 i would get a custom box for that also so witch one do u think has more potential of being loud

Custom box may be your problem if you're not getting what you want out of the sub too. You're around some extremely knowledgeable people on here and if you talk to someone like jmac they will design a box based on the sound you desire. Much better than the boxes shops make in most cases. PM him or there's a few other guys on here as well that do boxes, usually runs like $10 for a design.

Well if you know more than anybody on this forum than why would you be asking for input. Your just sticking your foot in your mouth, so if you want helpful input you need to shut-up and take the good with the bad. You give people from florida a bad name so please stop. To answer your question the alpine would sound better because the newer l7's are overrated and need to be in a ported box to sound like anything.

nore does pioneer. There most powerful amp is 1000 watts But the sub need 4000 watts rms (pioneer spl sub)
