Kicker L7 8" off 1200wrms

My buddy just got his new setup, its 2 8in L7s off a hifonics bx1205d which is pushing 1200rms. each sub has .55 cf before displacement. My concern is, the setup was very dissapointing, barely getting louder than a 10in pioneer off 400wrms in a shallow mount box. Whats wrong? do the L7s need to be broken in? I know they are getting 1200 a piece because they are reaching max xmax, but just aren't putting out the desired output. Any input is appreciated, thanks

The subs may be wired out of phase...double and triple check all your wiring. Check the box for any leaks (they can make a huge difference. Check the sub out on the deck and make sure its all the way up or near that, then adjust your gains accordingly. Come back if its still sucks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Increase box size (im assuming these are sealed boxes). Try bracing the boxes if you dont feel like or cant increase box size.

.55 CF is a pretty smalled sealed enclosure relatively speaking, so keep that in mind. Should have gone with one 12 in a 1.5 CF enclosure.

Can't go more than .55 each gross. This is a custom box made to fit in a 07 silverado. They are crossed over at 80hz and according to wiring and amplifier specifications, they are getting 600 wrms each. And are rated for 450wrms by the manufacture.

well first of all the enclosures are 2 small, i have used the 8l7's before they can get loud but atleast a foot ported, if you are familiar with the old school kicker box as i call it, 1 10l7 ported double slant with a trianglar vent on the side, ran this box at 1200 watts rms listened to it for 15 mins at a time then let it kool down when i smelled fried coil lol, sounded louder then most 12's hit a 139.2 on the t lab in the kick, his best bet is going ported atleast .75 each sub after disp. also maybe upgrade to an amp with more of a damping factor seeing that its now a ported enclosure and l7 in general are a real what i cal flingy sub they move alot and u want alot of control for that
