Kicker L7 12's vs. Alpine Type R 12's

i think actually the r's will kill in the loudness departmetn..the l7's will just sound better
i think you got it backwards....the L7's have more sd, but i believe the type R's have more xmax so it may be close on Spl. Take it from a long time L7 owner (everything from 10's to 15's) the L7's get loud, but they don't excell in the sq department, they are primarily directed more towards spl than sq.

Just to confirm.....

12" Type R:

Xmax = 18.1mm

Sd = 480 cm^2

06S12L7:

Xmax = 14.1mm

Sd = 643 cm^2 (approximation from WinISD)

Amount of air volume moved per linear excursion:

(please confirm this, as I used the basic forumula of Area*Height=Volume)

12" Type R = 868.8 cm^3

06S12L7 = 906.6 cm^3
