Kicker L7 10", is this too much?

Yeah, okay i have a Kenwood KAC-9152D amp that i just picked up from a friend, and the specs are:

1,800 Watts max power

500 Watts x 1 max (4 ohms) RMS

900 Watts x 1 (2 ohms) RMS

900 Watts x 1 (1 ohms) RMS

So the first question is.. would this be too much for a Kicker L7 10"? And would the 2 ohm or 4 ohm model really matter? Thanks for the help:cool:

it puts out the same power at 2 and 1 ohms?????

Anyway, I'd upgrade to a 12. You'll hit lows a little better, be louder, and will only be giving it 150w over rms, which will be fine. Assuming that the specs you posted are correct, it doesn't matter if you go dual 2 or dual 4. However, in a couple different spec sheets I've read, a dual-4 ohm woofer had slightly more excursion than a dual-2 ohm woofer for some reason. Double-check those specs and let me know.

Alright well, the specs were wrong, and I'm not sure if it's stable at 1 ohm. But I just got everything ordered, so here's what I ended up getting:

a 10" kicker L7

sealed box

and the 600.1 amp (its refurbed, but i cant afford anything else at this time)

i figure this wouldnt be a bad system to start with since im still pretty new

Yeah so, I screwed up on the order and i ended up getting a 2 ohm model instead of the 4 ohm so know im only getting 300 watts rms from the kicker 600.1, because i can only wire it in series, giving me a 4 ohm load. Kinda pissed, but I hope that wouldn't be too under-powered.
