kicker kx2500.1 going in and out of protect

I'm runnin my kx2500 off a regular cheap everstart battery under the hood....120 amp alt....and a kinetik 2400 in the back. It hasn't shut off since I got my kinetik until just the other day it started shutting off. I dont think its the amp though. I think the negative on my kinetik is loose....or my alt is about to go out. But I have a lifetime warranty on it.

I'm running it at 1 ohm also.

Are they really that efficent? Also when u set the gain, what rms were u aiming for.
you misunderstood me lol. what i meant was i have no voltage drops due to bad ground, corrosion etc etc. for example i have 14v at the battery, and at the power wire right before it goes into the amp power terminal i still hold 14v. thats what i meant by no voltage drops. i DO have voltage drops at the battery when its running, just like lakota says. there really isnt anyway to get around voltage drop with any amp thats rated at 2500w.

my benchtest sheet says i have 2960 @ 2 ohms. so i wired down to 1 ohm and set my gains for 3000w.

my problem is this. i have read from many many people that this amp will run @ 1 ohm daily. so i purchased 2 dual 1 ohm bl's wired down to 1 ohm (they sit at 1 ohm' date=' even though fi said they were supposedly .7 ohm). i can listen to music all day long with moderate power levels. my eclipse is set to max out at 65, and i can listen to it at about 60 and still have the amp play. as soon as i go up, the amp cuts in and out of protect very quickly..[/quote]

Sounds like your clipping the amp. It plays all the way up to 60 but not any higher? Thats only five clicks whats the big deal? Set your amp at about 3/4 volume

because the amp is set a little conservatively anyhow. that 5 clicks makes enough of a noticeable difference. my 2 18's off this kicker are only a decent bit louder than my friends 15" xxx off a pa 3000db amp...now THATS sad.

i am set up using 65/80. my cd5000 doesnt clip until volume 78/80

here is some readings i got using my dmm to get A and V and solving for resistance

35hz i am sitting @ 3.71 ohms

40hz - 4.05 ohms

45hz - 6.63 ohms

50hz - 4.79 ohms

55hz - 3.91 ohms

60hz - 3.72 ohms

so just going by these readings i dont get anywhere NEAR going under the rated minimum stable load of the amplifier. i dont know man, maybe im just a big gay?

Did you use an ammeter as well as a dmm? V=IR?

no i used just my dmm. first i measured voltage with it. then i disconnected 1 wire and wired the dmm in series to get a current reading. this only lets me go up to 10 amps but from what i have read, the readings should be the same, save the coils warming up and making impedance higher once they do.

then i did V/A and got resistance at each freq.
