Kicker KX vs. ZX?

is there any difference between the two besides the endcaps?

im looking at the 550.3. hifi has the kx for 159 + ship and hookedontronics has the zx for 198 with free ship but they arnt authorized.

The ZX is just the newer model. Either way they are both Kicker so you can't go wrong. I had the KX850.2 and it was a great amp, that is until it was stolen. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

hifi's stuff is remanufactured right? that might be one difference besides age

even on the smaller models? iirc , my 400.1 didnt have fans.

personally , i like the looks of the zx's much better than the kx's.

^^ big call, i prefer the kx models, mainly because of the fans and the grills....

i think its only the bigger amps that come with the fans. going over the pdf manual , i dont see any mention of one for the 550.3.

I just got off the phone with Tech Support at Kicker. I asked him what the difference was between the KX and ZX series amplifiers. He told me that the only real difference is that the KX series amps use a cooling fan to remove the heat while the ZX series amps utilize a slightly different circuitry that uses large heat sinks inside the amp to move the heat to the edges of the amp and cooling fins on the housing of the amp to dissipate the heat. He also said their is no difference in the power rating, clarity of sound or capabilities of these two series of amplifiers.
