Whats up peeps? Im new here, But I'm trying to find out some specs for a single hole ported box for a kicker cvr 12 4ohm. I was reading through the forum and came across Moe Lester post with all the box specs i was just wonder if any one of them are good.

Welcome! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wave.gif.002382ce7d7c19757ab945cc69819de1.gif

I have the same sub, and i am building a 2 cubic foot ported enclosure for it this morning. I am going 2 cubic foot because the "recommended specs" call for between 1.75-2.25 CF. so, i went in the middle. Tuning to 36hz.

And, as to the question of moes' box plans, thats where i got mine from. I have heard nothing but great feedback about his work.

What type of music do you listen to? Would 36Hz be good for rap?

Aint the tuning frequency of a box dependant on the sub parameters used in that box? how can one use moe's box plans if subs differ from one another? For example the displacement of a sub would change the volume of the box which should influence the tuning frequency if the port volume is not changed.

Or am i wrong?

sub does not affect box tuning.

only net volume, and port dimensions.

of course, if the sub is very large it can affect the net volume of the box, but this is usually negligible.

Kicker specs their subs with volumes including the driver displacment. Look on kickers site for their speced net volume for your sub and find a box from moes list at that volume and tuning freq you want. If you can't find what your looking for let me know I can put together a custom design for your application.

Also, tuning freq is really your preferance. Most synth hip-hip/rnb/rap are 35-45Hz so tuning to that range will gain the most output at the freq you choose, your decision.

and, just as some reinforcement on my claim: i finished my build this weekend, and all i can say is WOW. a huge difference from sealed to ported. Output is better than i could have expected. Very glad i went ported, and i wish i had earlier.
I want to build a box for my single 12" CVR too. I listen to 60% rap and 40% rock. I dont know what frequency I should go with. Would 36 Hz be too much for a daily driver sub?

Depending on your vehicle etc you car might already have a bump in the freq response around 40-55hz which means that if you tune around 36 hz you will have a huge hump around 40-42 hz which is great for spl but causes unevel levels in your bass output. I usually like to tune lower ie 28-32 hz that way you will not miss out on the lower end and the bass response will be flatter. The higher you tune the more of a chance you sub will be a one hit wonder like spl vehicles. The best way it to listen to several tones ranging from 30 hz to 50 hz with a sealed box around .707 qtc and listen for peaks and valleys in the freq response. There is also a chance you car or truck could have a peak around 35 hz and in that case tuning higher would make sense. If I had to pick on freq to tune to it would be 31hz.
