Kenwood X890 Help

Here's the instructions on how to defeat it on an XXV-01D (what I run). Don't know if it is the same process for you but you can give it a shot:

So I found where to turn the Demo mode off and on but this POS will not let me turn it off. If someone has used or does use this deck, can you tell me how to turn it off cause I spent the last 2 hours tring to turn it off and nothing works. I even followed the maunal how to turn it off and it still won't work.

if demo mode is when the screen randomly turns a different color, than i have that problem too. i followed the manual, and turned it "off" in standby mode and the screen still changes color.

BTW, i have a xxv-01d, which is technically the same player with the same menu system, just different DAC's. if anyone knows how to turn this off, shout a holler.

I did that. I held the right button for 5 mins and still nothing.
I noticed you said "right" button. I hope you literally don't mean the button on the right side. I just got this unit in yesterday and you do exactly what the other guy said.

Go to the demo mode option, it'll say on, hold the volume knob in and it'll switch to off.

right, but if says "demo mode: off" when i enter the menu and i leave the menu, then it should be off.

i just went out to my car and held down the volume knob and nothing happened. then i held down the button on the right and turned it "on", then i held it down again and turned it "off", went back to the standby mode, then back to my sirius mode... screen still flashes. i'm going to call the crutchfield tomorrow.

Please tell me you guys aren't serious....

Demo mode is when the unit changes through all of the backgrounds/ screen savers etc. etc. etc. indefinitely.

The screen flashing to a negative image is called the screen-saver mode, or something like that, it alternates between a positive and negative image when you are using the basic text-display mode, to preserve the pixels from being burned out while displaying non-moving text at high contrast for long periods of time. It's completely and thoroughly in the manual, as well as how to disable it.

People like you are the reason i have to read countless threads about how 'hard to use' kenwood decks are. You've got a really expensive, yet great head unit, why wouldn't you take the time to read through the manual and learn how to use it? Have someone else read it to you if you're having trouble, but for god's sake, features that you don't know how to use may as well not be there.

the kenwood manual, at least for my model, is quite broad and terribly written... which has been talked about OVER AND OVER again. i've read the manual, not every single word, not front to back, but i've read it. you don't have to be a dick and write a post about how we don't "deserve" the players we bought with OUR money. the new excelons are loaded with hundreds of features, it is pretty easy for some people to get lost when trying to figure them out. ****ing baby.

should be really easy to turn demo mode off. I just read how to do it in the manual when i got it and had it off in a matter of seconds. So maybe yours is messed up. BTW i love the x890 sounds amazing and so many great features, in fact i keep finding new features every day =)
