Kenwood x591 flashing "protect"

Well today I rolled down my window and my headunit turned off and flashed protect. well i got home and took out the HU and soldered and shrink wrapped the whole harness and moved the ground to a new spot. i also took off the door panel and soldered the the leads on and shrink wrapped them. but heres the thing, before i took off the door panel i turned it on after i redid the harness and ground and it worked, but then i decided i would do the doors too just to be safe. well now it still just flashes protect.

I have a 592 and looked in the manual

it says:

The speaker wire has a short circuit or touches the chassis of the vehicle, and then the protection function is activated.

Sounds like when you rolled the window down, the speaker wire in the door became damaged.

I would check all the speaker wire for any damage.

i did, theres no wire or anything damaged. i checked all 4 speakers.

Protect only comes on when an RCA is grounding out, speaker is blown or the speaker wires are shorting out. Thats it.

Yes

personally, I would rewire all the speakers and replace the RCA's, starting with the door that you rolled the window down. Test it every time you finish wiring a speaker to see if it comes out of protect.

If none of that helps its probable your HU is fried

ok well, i just clipped the left front wires for the harness and now it turns on and plays so i guess ill be running new wires tomorrow.

well i ran new wires to the left front speaker and then enverything worked to go to work, and then on the way home i was driving and it just cut off and started flashing protect again. wtf. sp i got home and clipped the left front wires and tired and it still flashed protect so i guess there is another culprit. ****.

so it started working again. now a couple days later it does it again.

its not the HU, the wire is shorting out....

What kinda of wire are you using?

Is it getting pinched anywhere?

have you ever pushed the reset button on the head unit? I've found through personal experience kenwoods are notorious for this unless reset...

Should be a little pinhole reset button on the unit with the face off...
