I'm trying to improve the audio in my S1 Lotus Elise, although, because of the type of car it is I know I'm not going to achieve anything special, just better than the stock system.
I've installed a Pioneer DEH-X7800DAB with Pioneer TS-A173CI 2 way separates mounted in the oem pods behind the seats with the tweeters attached a little higher on the roll bar cover and on a recommendation from an ICE fitter, connected them to the front speaker cables from the h/u .
Because there is nowhere to fit front speakers (at least without butchering the dash or doors) I've got an amplified & powered compact sub, as in the title, mounted above the footrest in the passenger footwell.
I first connected the sub via RCA phono plugs direct to the sw pre outs but was a bit disappointed with the result. The sound from the speakers is a great improvement, but all I was getting from the sub was just bass and nothing else.
As I was hoping it would give me complete range with simply more bass, I then tried connecting it via the rear speaker cable ISO plug. This still didn't give me what I was after.
Am I expecting more than the sub is capable of or do I have to wire it differently or tweak the settings in the head unit menu?
Please forgive my naivety but this is the first install I've attempted.
