Kenwood KDC-X993 Finally Out!!

S*** got my eye on the DDX814, haven't had a Kenwood since back in the days, I've been using Alpines lately, this should be a good change up.

Hmm, w505 or ddx814, I think I will try the Kenwood, will post comments once I get my hands on one.

@bamaboy: Is there a way to change the right wheel control so when you're using the FM tuner, or playing songs off a USB stick, that instead of pushing the right wheel left and right to change frequency/track, you can instead rotate the wheel clockwise/counterclockwise?

Chuck

not sure, twisting the right wheel brings up their new favorites menu, where you can set just about anything to go to, put eq in there, put a favorite radio station, put a certain artist off your ipod etc, just turn it and click the one you want and it will go to it

im gonna say no though, dont remember that from the old ones either

@bamaboy: No, you're right, the past couple generations of older two wheeled Excelon's don't do it like I'm looking for either...that's why I was hoping Kenwood would have corrected that F up this time around.

I cannot tell you how annoying it is, for both my brother and I, when using his KDC-X891, to go up and down the FM band, or navigate tracks on the USB memory stick, by perfectly clicking left and right. DON'T accidentally rotate the wheel though when clicking left or right, because then you're into a menu.

If Kenwood would just fix this one thing on their two wheeled decks, they'd have one of the easiest interfaces to use period. Instead, they've created a monster.....

Nice info on the KDC-X693 though...for those that don't care about the insanity right hand wheel setup, it's for sure an awesome deck...the KDC-X993 even more so.

Chuck

curious, im reading the manual and the crossover section has nice HP settings, but it doesnt appear that you can BANDPASS on either the front or rear outputs for say a midbass or dedicated midrange, am I reading that right?

I don't know where you see that, but you can't.
