Kenwood KDC-X794 MP3 Headunit shuts off during USB play

Hey guys,

I bought a used Kenwood KDC-X794 off a friend. It has a usb cord for input on the back with ipod controlability.

I do not have an ipod, so bought a flash drive and loaded it with music. I plugged the flash drive into the cord and it plays music. But intermittently it will stop playing music??? It will essentially pause the song, although the songs name is still displayed. And it does not show it as "reading" or "paused".

If I hit the next button, the stereo will cycle on the screen? and return to its song it was playing only to show "reading".

If I unplug the usb and re-plug it back in, its picks up the song where it left and and will continue to play.

It doesn't do it on just one particular song, and its does it at random times? Any ideas?????

Just a heads up... I fixed it.

Problem was the flash drive. I was using a 16g flash drive previously. I transfered all the files to a 2G flash drive (total use was 1.3g) and plugged it in.... Works perfectly.

Not sure as to why the flash drive caused the issue as it works great on a computer. I'm guessing that the internal memory speed of the player couldn't keep up with the size of the flash drive.

Different class memory in different flash drives. Try to use a class 10, should work fine.

The one I had originally is a Silicone Power Touch 835 16g. I just bought it..

The one I am using now, that works is a PNY Attache 2g. Been laying around forever...
