Kenwood KDC-mp819

I have the kenwod kdc-mp819 purchased in 2003. In the past few months the cd player has gone from accepting cds, to not accepting some cds, to not accepting any cds. once in a while it will accept them. the rest of the time it is "reading" and then gives me TOC Error. im guessing it must need a cleaning, but really not sure. is this a common thing to happen after two years of use?
