kenwood kdc-mp442u preset station help

[pbnj22 10+ year member]

i cannot for the life of me change my presets or set them or atleast change my selector to manual. even on auto it does not scan and pick up the correct stations that come in. the owners manual is the hardest thing to read and understand which anyone with this model shall know. it also has the same instructions manual as a kdc-bt742u. and kdc-x493

any help would be great.
