Just picked up one of these for my new system, pretty good price at ~160 shipped off ebay. Any insight on what I should do with it? I was thinking about wiring it at 1 ohm, although I've been getting mixed feedback about whether or not this amp will be able to handle 1 ohm. Gonna be using a pair of ported R's, 4 ohm.

Here's a link off one site I used in my research: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11795_Kenwood+KAC-9104D.html

Can I trust the 1 ohm capability?

It says it right there, "This amplifier has the capacity to withstand a low impedance of 1 ohm". Kenwood makes hefty stuff I'm almost sure it's capable You can also try doing this "If you want to increase the sound then you can add up to 18 dB of bass boost." which is my favorite feature on this amp. (please use bass boost responsibly, friends don't let friends bass boost and drive)

Yeah I heard about issues with the older ones... but I'm sure they made an attempt to fix it so it works decently at 1 ohm. Notice, on the same site for that link I posted, the page for the 9103D model says it's unstable at 1 ohms. Anymore opinions? I may just have to wire it at 4 ohms to be safe... although I probably will do 2 or 1.

I already bought the amp. off the internet a few days ago. I e-mailed Kenwood, and the guy told me I should be fine, and that the amp. is stable 1 ohm and will put out 900 watts or greater at that impedence. I guess I'll just have to wire it and see; although, it seems like the 9104D being new for 2008 and all, that they would have fixed any problems so that it would actually work at 1 ohm.

Let us know if it held up.

I've had my 9104 wired at 1ohm powering two boston g5s for over six months. I have the gain at full sensitivity and bass boost at 1/3 and I still haven't managed to blow it yet.

I have the kenwood 9104 and i run it at 1 ohm on two kicker cvr 12's, and i does go into protect if i turn it up on the head unit all the way, but its wierd bc some days ill have to run the bass down to -2 and somedays i can turn it up to 4 out of 6 without it shutting off. The voltage drops to 11.3 volts so im thinking thats why its shuting off.
