Here’s a picture of my 600w Kenwood KAC-729S, a 4 gauge wire, a black 4 gauge spade terminal, a red 8 gauge spade, and a 12-16 gauge spade.
The fuse in the amp is 40, the 4 gauge cable fuse is around 90-100. I’m running the 4 gauge back to the trunk and I was going to split it to an 8 gauge wire fused around 60-80. The problem is, as you can see, nothing fits. What am I missing here? All the installation guides make it as simple as running a thick gauge wire to the amp but judging by the size of these KAC terminals I might as well run speaker wire from the amp to the battery. Should I really continue downsizing and splitting until I get down to a 10-12 gauge wire with a spade that fits or is there a missing adapter I don’t know about that would fit an 8 gauge into those tiny terminals?
If anyone knows of such a thing, please provide a link. I can’t seem to find 8 gauge spades smaller than 1/4,” clearly too large.
