kenwood headunit problem

allright, i have the kenwood kdcx993 headunit and when i turn up the volume it cuts off completely and comes back on, and it will repeat this process unless the volume is really low.. the unit also flickers on bass notes..

it would be appriciated if somone can help me out. thanks

sounds like you are drawing too much power for your car to handle. give us more specs on all of your equipment including battery(s) and alt.

It's a Mazda b2200, with a ac delco alternator.. About 120 amp, 2 batterys. I'm running 4, 6 1/2 infinity reference speakers and 4 tweeters.. Nothing special.

The reason for the second battery is because it's airbagged and I needed more voltage for the compressors..

get a 4 channel amp if you dont have one.

1)one of the speakers might be grounding out.

2)your ground/power to the radio might be loose or not enough voltage.

measure the impedance between radio ground and the battery(shouldnt be more than 0.3) or find a better ground spot

3)i dont know which line of infinity's was rated at 2.5 ohm if thats what you got then chances are the radio amp is struggling trying to push those 2.5 ohm speakers at full volume... they only capable of 4 ohm minimum.
