I'm looking to use it for comps. Have you ever heard of the preamps failing? How user friendly is it?

As far as active I don't even know what that is LOL j/k I just plan on running my stuff amped as normal.

It is a great deck. The controls are a bit confusing at first but you get the hang of it after a while. USB playback is **** near perfect. You can use your own images on the display.

x792 is just as good... just less colors.

If I'm not mistaken the x792 has 4v preamps. The X991 has 5v which is a big selling point for me.
