Kenwood amps are pretty shitty prowler, you surprise me...
I've been using Kenwood amps of various sizes and years for a long, long time now. There's a KAC-646x (25w X 4 or 70w X 2) that I bought new inthe summer of '97 now living in another fella's car with the original fuse that was in it when I bought it. Amp still works as new even after being beat on daily for a decade now.The 4-channel I run, the KAC-PS500F, is the Performance Standard older cousin to the KAC-X501F killah mentioned (and pictured) above. Here's mine:
I bought it used and have been running it for three years now with no issues whatsoever. I retired a KAC-X401M e
Xcelon amp in favor of the DAT unit I bought from you. The only problem with the Kenwood amp is that its wattage level isn't enough for some future plans I have in the works. Within its operating range, however, it's a fine amp. Also purchased used it has worked flawlessly for me for over three years driving three different substages without complaint.
Kenwood amps are really low end amps sold at midrange prices
Old-school regular Kenwood amps have proven to me time and time again to be reliable performers. Old-school e
Xcelon gear back when it was labeled Performance Standard as well as more recent e
Xcelon offerings have also proven to me that they can get the job done more than adequately.
Would I have paid full retail for them when they were new?
Probably not.
But between the PS500F and the X401M I have under $225 invested in the pair including shipping. So for 75w X 4 @ 4 or 300w X 2 @ 4 plus 400w X 1 @ 4 or 600w X 1 @ 2 that has worked unfailingly for that long and sounded good doing it I would say they were a pretty good buy.
Now the "regular" line of Kenwood amps here in recent years does seem to have fallen off in quality over the pre-2000 models I have experience with but the e
Xcelon amps seem to do just fine. The Performance Standard 2-channel amp I'm trying to sell gets plenty loud and is reliable as a rock.
but Excelons are Excellent HU's,my fav actually
Me too. That's why I run what I run.
Id rather have a PowerAcoustic
