kenwood ddx512 vs. ddx812

SHould i get the ddx512 or wait until i get the money to get the ddx812. What is the big difference between these two units, besides the price. Any help is great, thanks!

the 812 will have MUCH more audio settings such as : time alignment,13 band eq for front, 13 band eq for back, and much more

if you dont care to much about that then go with the 512

All of that great stuff plus, the bigger screen! I had a D3 before and the Kenwoods bigger screen is cool!

Yeah, the 812 would be a much better purchase decision I think. I had to out weigh the two myself and the features that come with the 812 are more than you would ever need, plus the EQ alone makes it worth the extra dough.

Mine, unfortunately, is not wanting to play CDs/DVDs at the moment. I may have got a defected one, but I would advocate getting one. It's WAYYYY better than my Eclipse AVN6600.

thanks man, sorry bout your cd player though, thats a bummer. so it really does have 13 bands, im tryin to think of what they could be and i havent got a clue, lol. im lookin on ebay and they are mostly around $700. so i gess ill have to pick one up the next paycheck..haha

Built in Bluetooth on the 812 as well. The difference in price between the two units is lessthan the price of the Bluetooth module and the 812 has a bunch of other features that you can't add to the 512. Much better deal and more capable HU. The SQ of either is going to entirely depend on your tuning, neither is going to inherently sound better. The 812 does have more tuning options, though. Does the 512 have a DTS decoder?

I got the 8120 (the wife actually insisted that I spend the extra money for the Nav //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif ) and I'm still waiting to install it. Even if I don't use the full capability of the unit right away, the fact that I might eventually makes it worth the extra $$$.

i have a ddx 712, and had an 812 before, and its pretty much the same.

you can get a 712 for around 600

the ipod touch functions with video also are outstanding, and it has an awesome remote

The 812's bigger screen and 13 band eq is nice. I could give a **** less about bluetooth. Diggin it, as mentioned above the ipod video capability is cool.
