What other peoples settings are is irrelevant. You need to adjust the crossover and bass boost to what you like. And the gain needs to be set to what your subs can handle cleanly.

is there any way of me blowing my subs by trying it myself or should i let someone at a car audio place do it?

wrong.....gain is dependent upon your pre-amp voltage. Unles you have an amp thats put out more power than your sub can handle

need more infor on your subwoofer and box. lp should be around 80. hp should be off-20 or higher if you have a ported enclosre

I agree, I have the same amp and I havent even touched my amp settings. I couldnt if I wanted to because my girl messed up the cover screws. (Long Story) but I love it were its at.
