KCA-420i ipod class problems

Hello all,

I have an Alpine 9835 with the KCA-420i ipod adapter in my car and everything works fine with my old generation 5 ipod video.

The poblem is that I recently got a new ipod classic (80 gig) and the alpine ipod adaper does not seem to control my new ipod.

The alpine logo does not display on the ipod nor does it even charge the ipod.

I've also tried a new video nano and it doesn't connect either.

Am I out of luck with this older Alpine ipod adapter?

If I have to upgrade my gear to be able to connect my ipod can anyone recommend a new head unit?

My roomate has the Alpine iDA-X001 and my new ipod appers to work correctly with this HU but there are a few things that I don't like about it. Plus I'd be losing some features like Time Correction.

Any help would be appreciated

The 9887 has everything your 9835 has in the way of processing and uses the new 422 Full-Speed cable.

So, yesterday I tried plugging in the new ipod and everything worked this time.

The only thing I noticed was that the hold switch was not on and it was playing a play list that had less then 255 songs in it.

I am going to do some further testing to try and figure out why it didn't work the first time I tried it.
