Kayaking on the Willamette River

Went for a $24 1.5 hour Kayak Tour of Willamette Falls on the Willamette River in Oregon City today, it was a blast and for a guy with no legs i did real well with the Kayak, had so much fun that i bought a Sun Dolphin Bali SS 12' Sit-On Kayak in Blue for the incredibly low price of $370, still need life jacket and paddle but playing in the water will get me back in shape, didn't realize how porky i am ..

the cool thing about being a paralyzed veteran, the PVA aka Paralyzed Veterans Administration will reimburse me $250/yr towards my recreational expenses, what a deal..

I am not too familiar with rivers up in your neck of the woods, but I never met a river I didn't like!! It's something about the serenity and peacefulness I can't get enough of. There are a couple of really good rivers in Northern Arkansas I used to spend lot's f time on. But I was a little immature back then, and had more beers than memories unfortunately.

it's never too late to get back into a kayak, now that we're older and (more) mature than we were it's even more fun than the memories are..

Why the hell..
the PVA does that to get us off the sofa, if we find a hobby or sport we like such as kayaking or air rifle or archery they will reimburse us $250/yr towards the cost of equipment, only paid $370 for the boat (after 13% off) so after i turn in the receipt to the PVA they will cut me a check for $250 so when it's all said and done i have $120 invested in the boat..

I'm not saying you should join the military (and end up paralyzed waist down with no legs below the knee like me) but it does have its advantages //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It's at the top of m to-do list! I've been wanting to get my kids out on the water and enjoy the outdoors like I've been able to. I've already given my oldest son the fishing bug, and loves to go fishing! Made me he proudest Dad the first time he caught a fish on his own. I think he will take to the water pretty well.

Now to all the other guys out there, I am gonna give ya'll a lesson, not only learned in school, but learned in real life. Just follow me here. I have always loved the big girls. I am not sure why, just a preference to me, and one I have always had. That being said, there are certain scientific laws you will have to keep in mind when you're out on the water, either in a 2 person Kayak, or a canoe.

First of all it's involves the Law of Nature involving conquering and overcoming overwhelming odds to succeed. Example: My Ex was a big girl, over 6'2" and weighed over 400 pounds. I climbed that mountain in search of conquest, and succeeded in battle with a sweat that smelled of pure achievement. BUT.....

The second law, which pertains to the laws of inverted pendulums. This is one law, that cannot be circumvented by any means, and is the most crucial. As the pendulum moves from over the pivot point, the base will need to move horizontally in the same direction to keep the pendulum upright. The equation can be written in several ways, But the most important variable of the equation to consider, is the mass of the pendulum and the distance from the pendulum mass to the base. Te heavier the pendulum, and the longer the distance from the pendulum to the base, the more corrections the base needs to make in order to keep the pendulum upright.

To all the people out there in which this went over your heads....

Fat and tall Bitches on a canoe with you will be exponentially harder to keep upright and in the boat than a skinny short chick. Or just ask to big bitch to lay down on the bottom of the canoe, and then you will never flip over.

So far i gathered up a 240cm 2-piece adjustable Bending Branches recreational paddle for $60, used 220cm 1-piece symmetrical spare paddle for $40, used ski PFD for $50. Still need paddle leash, whistle, helmet, forward rod holder and anchor trolley but it's getting there..
