so what about mos def, talib, the roots, dialated peoples, blackalicious, the peas, etc. I would consider all of them quality hip-hop because they have their heads on straight. Anyone can write rhymes about the same ol shit, but hip hop began as a change, an escape as you said...and to keep it progressive its artists must be innovative and never lose sight of its roots.

Everyone knows people like money, everyone knows its hard growing up in the project, everyone knows people get shot at, everyone knows there are drugs. When I listen to any type of music I want the artist to tell me something I dont know, or at least to be insightful. Maybe one day you will realize that.
