ok this is going to sound like a noob question and under normal circumstances it would be (im not going into why its not wayyy to long of a story) but I tried hooking up my aftermarket hu straight to my speakers tonight because my 4 channel amp went out. get everything hooked up like it normally would be turn it on and no sound. now to get alot of questions out of the way heres a short list

1. yes the speaker are connected to stock speaker wires. I had my 4 channel ran up to behind the deck and connected to the metra harness to run the speakers.

2. I know the deck works infact we actually tried a second deck to make sure it wasnt the decks problem. it works fine

3. I have a gts with out the sun and sound package

4. I am not currently using the PAC unit but that should not matter because all it does is control the steering wheel controls.

thats all I can think of now. Please help me I have a very long road trip this weekend and need music!!

no it is not a dead head but the amp can be turned off, That said I checked that multiple times http://www.caraudio.com/forum/images/smilies/verymad.gif

1. fuses are good

2. stock hu still works and produces sound

3. another we hooked up another aftermarket HU with the same results

... did you turn it on?
haha yes we turned it on.

and yes there was an accessory wire and its connected to the accessory on the deck. there is not a blue wire on the car side of the harness, and from what I am told the package in this car is not amped

so it turns on, but no sound? sounds like a factory amp in there. only thing that comes to mind, since its powering on. either that or double check the wiring from the radio to the speakers

well we would go the same way with having an amp. but......

when we ran my four channel to begin with we ran four speaker wires up from the amp the wiring harness in the dash and hooked them to the speaker wires on the car side. this produced sound, really great sound to tell you the truth. so in theory we would be doing the exact same thing here just with a different amp right? Im at a loss as to what the problem is here
