I just bought a JVC KD-AVX2 cd player and I have a few questions.

What is the "Telephone Muting" setting?

When using the iPod with the iPod adatper is there a way to show more songs on the screen other than just one. For some reason it shows up like this for example:

"Shower Stopper"-Folder

"Show Stopper"-Song file

Why does it show up twice? Is there a way to make it more of a list showing more than 1 song at a time.

When I first got it installed I had very little bass. There were 3 different ways I found to get more bass.

1st. Through the eqalizer you can boost the 60hz up to +5

2nd. Volume Adjust-you can adjust the volume of a specific source such as iPod..goes up to +12

3rd. Subwoofer level can go up to +8

Any of these 3 that I should not boost?

Also another question that is really bothering me. After going to menu/playlists/songs for car and selecting the song i want...if i hit the up button (menu) it goes all the way to the beginning and i have to go through playlist and start at the very top of my playlist. There has got to be a way to just go back in the playlist. I'm sure there is im just missing it.

Last question for now....can I put my music videos on a cd-r or do they have to be on a dvd-r?

telephone muting is for using your phone in conjunction with your stereo to mute your stereo when you recieve/make calls. basically hands-free pretty much.

i kno on my 880prs, i have to go through 3 menus to start a song (from a different artist). shows up as:

artist>album>songs>play just like how my ipod operates. but mine will show up three lines at a time when searching artists, albums and songs, but only one when currently playing.

you really do not want to use bass boost at all. you'll kill your subs and possibly amps real quick if you over do it (mainly the first bast boost item mentioned).

i have no idea on the playlist as i don't have any currently.

on the music videos, it'd be better to use a dvd-rw (that way you can re-write on it over and over). on a cd-r it'd try reading it as a cd so you wouldn't get the video unless i just dunno what i'm talking about.

Thank you.

How do I use the telephone muting though? Do I have to go through menu and all that junk everytime i wanna use it? When you are playing through your iPod and you go to your songs and play a song how do you go back to the list of songs? When I want to go back I have to go to menu and so on. Several steps.

With the bass boost on the 60 hz turned down I dont have near as much bass as I did with my old JVC cd player. Should I reset my gains on my amp with a DMM again? It wouldn't make that big a difference would it?

telephone muting, you can buy a car kit and just wire it up to your headunit i believe. never really messed with any of that so i wouldn't kno.

in order for me to go through songs, usually when i select songs, it'll stay on the song list menu and i normally have to hit the display button to get to the currently playing screen everytime (have it set on randomize songs). but i kno where you're coming from on that one.

if you use any kind of eq/bass boost, set those prior to setting your gains, as the peaks and dips in songs will fluctuate and "clip" more and just nullify the whole gain setting method. and it'd make a difference in not potentially killing your subs/amps and having to spend more money to replace them cuz of a lil ignorance. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Well I set my gains with a dmm with my old jvc cd player. I was just saying would this new cd player make a whole lot of difference with my gains, makin it where I need to reset them.

considering i have no idea what either of the deck's pre-out voltages are i can't tell you. you won't be able to hear the difference, but the lower you can set the gain at, the less strain on the amp/chance of noise induction you have. but i'll wait for someone with more electrical/engineering intellect to chime in cuz i don't really know too many facts let alone back up what i say with facts. so that's about the extent of my help i can give. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Alright. Thank you for all of your help. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Any help on the iPod thing would greatly be appreciated! Having to go through menu/playlists/custom playlists/ and start from the beginning of the playlist everytime i want to select a different song is very annoying and time consuming.

There has to be some button that goes back to your playlist.

bump still trying to figure out the iPod thing. Let me try explain it again.

I hit souce until I get to iPod.

I hit down to go to menu

Down again to go to playlists

Use the left and right buttons to select playlist

left and right buttons to find the song i want to play

hit down to play the selected song.

The screen then just shows the name of the current song and artist.

To find a new song I hit up and it takes me all the way back to menu where I hav to select a playlist and even if I go to the same playlist it starts at the very top of the playlist.

So it is very time consuming and not very easy to find a specific song even on a small playlist, escpecially while driving.

There has to be some button I'm missing that goes back to the playlist, like on the iPod.
