I bought a BRZ-1700 off a member here about a year ago, first I want to say he definitely scammed me and everyone should watch out for him cause he sold me that amp knowing it would break one day! (making fun of the dumbazz who posted a thread like that recently)

Anyway amp was running for about 8 months @ 2 ohms on good electrical. I monitor my voltage and rarely go below 13.8.

1/0 cable and very solid short ground.

Yesterday as soon as I turned the car on I heard a sizzle from the hatch and the amp smoked. I have no idea why.

So that is not really the whole reason why I won't buy or recommend Hifonics.

I grabbed a spare amp I had laying around which is an old Audiopipe 1500, forgot what model but it is the better one.

I couldn't believe how small the inputs were on the AP, I had to cut the ends of my 1/0 down a lot in order to fit them.

Anyway on to my point, OMG is the AP amp so much louder than the Hifonics. An actual big difference.

I thought the BRZ line did rated but now I def do not believe that.

I am not going to keep the AP in my car, just temporary until I buy something else. I am thinking about the CAB 1600.

I have been doing research and not 100% decided yet.

i think the hifi amps are hit or miss.

i had a hfi 3000D. LOL years ago.any ways i abused the HELL out of it. for over 3 or more years. ****** electrical. 10 year old alt. cca wire dropping in the low 10 voltages. prolly clipped the living hell out if it.

it lasted. still beat the **** out of some old school memphis subs. i actually sold it for $70 bucks bout 2 years ago. was collecting dust. my buddy is still using it to this day running some threatcons i believe. sounds decent as well.

anyways that was my experience with the one and only hifi product ive owned

I was just really surprised at how much louder my setup is with the AP amp.

So I just found out that I actually have the sh1tter line of AP amps

Mine is a AP-1500 which dynos at 844 @ 2 ohms so that just shows how little the Hifonics amp which is rated at 1,200 @ 2 really puts out.

I am leaving for vacation for a week in a couple of days, when I get back I will order a CAB 1600 unless I find a good deal on a Sundown which is what I really want

I had the 1600brz or something like that and it popped one day with good electrical. Then I put a Memphis 1000d on its place and the Memphis amp walked all over that hifonics. The Memphis amp is still going strong in my wife's car.

Most times cost isn't in the parts but qc and warrantry.

Id rather pay 550 for a 2500 with a no hassel one time exchange if somrthing happens than buy two 2500s.

Better parts and for some reason people dont understand circurty has everything to do with output sound q and realibility.

It baffels me to think off brand cheap companies used a vopy cat of a decent circuit and it gets um rich yet tge real engineers live check to check!

Buy with pride.

Memphis makes good amps. Not really the 4k, but the 500, 1k, 1100, 1500 etc.
Very solid amps. Sound decent too.

The 4kws are good but they are excatly built like to others for low loads and comps. Much better dynamics for music..

Many years ago i was using a memphis 500d, stout little bastard.

Memphis actually has a really good warranty through authorized dealers. Idk how true it is, but i heard that the 2500 and 4k required professional installation with HO alt from a shop. But if that protocal was followed, theyd cover any damage. Thats what a memphis dealer told me around 2010
