Seiko makes some good watches, can't deny that. The Omega is fully automatic with a solid movement (which is about $800 alone). The bracelet is $500, no idea why...but that's what it is, superluminous dial adds another $80-100, research and development, name value, etc etc etc. You get the idea. The watch was also serviced by an Omega dealer at the guy's cost of $300, which saves me money in the future. I figure if I ever want to sell it, I can easily get $1000-1200 on ebay.

If not, what a terrible/waste of collections. I mean a watch is a watch. I usually spend 20 bucks unless someone else is buying me one, still never exceeded 300 dollars.

I do the samething with sun glasses too. I used to sport Oakley, Nike and whatever else name brand was popular but just keep losing them or they would break. Funny thing is the pair of sunglasses I have now are over 5 years old and not a thing wrong with them and cost me 10 bucks and look pretty good.

You can say the same about anything though....nobody NEEDS to drop $5k on a nice system. You can get nearly the same performance from one that costs $3-4k less, but it's just something you want to have because you can afford it and you enjoy it.

i use my phone. i have seceral fossils laying around (watches, not fossilized animals, lol) that were gifts-when will my family figure out I don't wear watches!! lol

couple of RE SX 12's in a well-made box with 2kw did 154 dB if I remember correctly. That isn't $5k.....but I'm sure you understand what I mean.

love the watch.....always liked the omegas...but alas, they are too expensive fro me... My mom got me a Citizen Eco-drive for Christams that I love, it is powered by the sun.....the face of the watch is actually a solor panel and it is dead on accurate.

haha.... 1/2hr of sun runs the watch for like 6 months IIRC!!!
