just bought kicker l7 help me hook it up.

cool thanks, but i was also wondering about personal advice, what people think would sound best. Also should i get a cap or would it not really matter? do they really work?

Hook up the sub like so:

As for whether or not you need a stiffening capacitor that is a debate that will rage until the end of time, I'd wager.

Do a search and likely you'll come up with a bazillion threads on the subject.

Okay - here's the deal on that then.

Most people with the Kenwood monoblocks rated to operate safely at a 1 Ohm load report that the amps are not stable when given a 1 Ohm load regardless of advertising to the contrary.

Your experience may vary - if you hook it up that way and it works well please do let us know.

That being said your wiring options are 1 Ohm with the coils in parallel like so:

Or 4 Ohms with the coils in series like so:

cool thanks for the help. Im guessing the 4 ohm would be best at 500watts, since running it at 1 would most likely over power it, or am i wrong? Would it sound like shit if it were underpowered like that?

good luck with a 1 ohm setup on that amp...

listen, being off 100w on your amp with your rms would be way better than trying to go the 1 ohm route...

^^and def. pay attention to clipping x2

the sub though is only rated for 600, i am guessing when i say that the kenwood is supposed to do somewhere like 1300w? you could turn the gain halfway down...

but like i said, on that amp good luck.

alright so i hooked it up and it sounds great. BUT... it cuts out, is that the 1ohm stable (or unstable).. ? or is it the fact that im using the factory deck? Im hoping i can just rewire the sub because i love the stock bose system.

if you wired it to 1 ohm, that most likely is the problem... use the other diagram to wire it to 4 ohms

stock deck is fine
