Just blew my head unit, speaker impedance or wiring issues?

What makes you say that? Both my previous Kenwood units have sounded great. Have a better recommendation?
The brand doesnt matter, the specific model does. the one you chose is a 16 bit DAC with zero tuning options meaning its lower quality music from the start with no chance of tuning it to make it sound better.

that pioneer youdoofus recommended is miles lot better. or a kenwood kdc x301

Whats the difference? 16 bit dac vs 24 bit dac which means better sound off the batt. time alignment allows sound waves from each speaker to reach your ears at the same time to recreate a virtual concert where you can literally see where the artists and instruments are at. 13 band EQ means you can very fine tune things to have maximum sound quality and smoothness. Not to mention modern day capabilities such as bluetooth etc.. With bluetooth 3.0 its not far off from using a cd or usb in terms of quality.

Since you are pretty new, anything can sound great. However with a properly done setup, sh*t will sound magnificent and show off worthy to anyone that sits in your car. All can be had for just 30 dollars more.... never ever cheap out on the head unit, its the brains of the operation.

Makes a lot of sense. It hadn't actually shipped yet, so I went ahead and cancelled the order. Might as well upgrade instead of just getting an identical one anyhow.

I'll look at that pioneer again, and the other Kenwood you suggested.
@BOOMINGRANDPA loves his x301, he came from cheap head units as well. He can verify how massive the difference is and he's still on head unit power as well, no amp yet.

The unit is pretty easy to tune too with the sound engine features.
Just sprung for it. Even went with a three-year protection plan and one-day shipping so I can get it ALL done tomorrow.

yeah mine like he said $119 x 301 it has 24 bit da convertor which just makes it sound better/ louder and like jeff said it has hp xover 13 band eq time alignment /delay like a ht receiver does and probably 8 other sound enhancers

its way more advanced with the tuning options than home recievers lol. Most 600 dollar HT recievers still rock a 5 band eq at best.
