I've got two Rockford Fosgate Punch He2 (12") subs currently powered by a Kenwood KAC-9103D. The subs have a power range of 100-400W RMS each and 800W peak. Since the subs are 4 ohm DVC subs I've got them wired at 4 ohms as I'm not comfortable wiring it to 1 ohm, as there's some debate to whether or not this amp is 1 ohm stable and the electrical is stock. So the amp puts out 500W RMS @ 4 ohms to the pair, so that's 250W RMS each?
It's nice, but there's this cheap Alpine MRV-1507 on Craigslist that I've been eyeing. It's definitely an older amp, but it seems the people who've owned them in the past love them. I can't find a nice spec page like I can for the other two, but it looks like it does 900W bridged @ 4 ohms (and even more according to some pages I've seen where they were bench tested), so that's 450W each RMS?
My question is this: could I use the MRV-1507 to safely run my subs, or is it too powerful?
