Hmmm? Bought My Car- an 83' Mercury Cougar, for $100.

Have 2 Alumapro Alchemy 12's in it.

One sub costs almost twice as much as my car does. he he //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

It's my restoration project however, so in all reality, I have probably put in about $1000 over all thus far. I am currently installing a new 302 CID engine of which about $1800 is performance parts.

Its nice to have something to enjoy building yourself from the ground up. I am a firm believer in Car First, Stereo Second- so it naturally does boggle me to see so many people driving cars that would likely fall apart when they hit a bump, who happen to have these big systems. A system is only as good as its weakest component- components include the car.

take it easy,

I drive a ford probe that I paid $900 for (but it looks ok and drives good) and I have put about $7000 into my current system...now ya know where MY priorities are!!!

hahah, i kno hwo it is

but hey, as long as the car runs and works, it dun matter, this way, when ya get a better car, u already have a g0od system.

Just goes to show the marvel of mechanical engineering in a few cases.

So long as a car has regular maintenance and is driven the way it was intended to be by the manufacturer, they should be able to last quite a lot longer than most people expect.

Unfortunately with many, you say 100,000 miles and they gasp and quiver in fear; thinking the car has lived its usefullness allready.

Someone please tell me why 100,000 miles is a bad thing?

Personally, if a car has less than 100,000 on its odometer, that frightens me a lot more. Anything over 100,000- perfect! The car has then been broken in and has proven itself to be capable of driving well. Face it- if a car reaches 100,000 miles- it has proven its dependability. Where as even the newest car from the factory could easily break down for good with under 10,000 miles on it.

he he - miles rule! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I agree 100%. I have an 89 chevy beretta with 155,000, and it runs great. I think about it this way. Why have a $300 car payment, when you can ride around in an older car that looks half way decent for free each month. Maybe a couple hundred in parts each year, but nothing major. The only problem I had with my car was it kept stalling out a couple months ago, my dad being a mechanic, just unplugged a wire from the transmission and bam, it runs like new. Of course, the part is still bad, but he basically by passed it, said I might burn a little more gas though. And actually I think I am getting better gas mileage. Anyhow just my point, I'd rather ride around in a car that I own, instead of having a nice car and making payments. I also have a Kia Sportage EX (POS) nobody better buy any Kia automobiles, they ****, their mechanics **** and almost got me killed. We have had more work done to the Kia in the year we've had it, then I have had done to my Beretta in 3 years. We brought it in because the brake light was on, instead of finding what was causing the light to stay on, they just disconnected the light, some 10 year warranty huh. Too bad they don't sell life insurance with it.

hey zane you own a 83 crouger haha thats funny.I wouldn't have the balls to admit that to the world.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif

I agree with every one above. OFC is much better. Copper is a much better conductor than aluminum.
