Okay so I was talking to someone I work with who is in the military(ROTC at WVU) and he was telling me that I can sign up for 'the guard' now, go to basic over the summer, then enlist in the ROTC and I will receive a certain amount a month and they will pay for either my school or my housing. Well I have a free ride except for housing so the fact that they do that kinda gets my interest. Its better than taking out student loans I suppose. Also I was wondering if I join the guard is there a signing bonus? I mean I would be giving up 10k this summer if I went to basic which sucks so it better be good money. Any idears?

don't you have to dedicate a certain amount of time to active duty for them to do this?

it doesn't cost 10k to get an apartment and live there...

I think for my apartment I was paying about 350-400 a month on everything including food. But I had 2 buddies living there as well.

I don't think the guard does signing bonuses.

When you were at MIT, did someone approach you and ask you to join a "math" club?

i thot you were going to live off campus, they told you no i take it?

8k is pretty steep, nice dorms i take it?

i lived in dorms for one semester and paid a little over 2500 with meal plan and all.

i thought about joining the military just to get money and get my college payed for. but iirc, if you are wanting to just join the military just to get the money, then you have two choices, Iraq or college. And if you signed up, got the money and stopped going, they could make you give back the money you were given and what you had spent.

just what I was told, idk..dont plan on joining any branch of military tho. My lil bro plans on joining the navy so g/l to him

I leave may 22 for the navy. Im just doing the reserves as a CM and i get a 20k bonus

reserves my ***, buddy of mine signed up for that 1 weekend a month , 2 weeks a year crap. Been to iraq for 18 months and they have taken every one of his summers
