job dilemma

so i got my first job a few years back, at a restauraunt/ sports bar, damons for those of u that have em around u. was cooking, and was right below management. left for school, came home, and went back. the km and i didnt see eye to eye, so i didnt go back. i ended up becoming very good friends with my supervisor tho. so, a few months back, the supervisor, mike, got transfered to a different store, because corporate cleared out the company, but him and a few select others. on monday the company filed chapter 11, and 2 stores closed. mike, is coming back to the original store as km, and offered me a job. i work at best buy, making shit money, working with idiots, but i love what i do. im thinking of going back to damons, where i can make good money and cook, which i love doing.

my fear is, if i leave best buy to go back to damons, knowing they filed chapter 11, then the whole company goes, what happens? im pretty much fuked?? but if they dont go under, i leave a shit payin job, for a good payin job. im stuck here. anybody ever have this issue or a similar one???

dude you will never ever move up at best buy. not to mention you may love audio but youre stuck installing crappy stuff for people who dont share the same passion as you. i say follow the money. thats what counts anyways. if they go under best buy will always take you back. so youre safe either way.

This is what I'm thinkin. If I put in 2 weeks il be ok. And ur right, I've noticed alot of our biz is gps, and sat radios. Most who come in for audio are old, and want replacments, or 16 ur olds who are dreaming, over crap. Plus I hate people who don't listen and don't make sense, and idiots. I had some lady ask me what friction was, I wanted to smack her, but obviously I couldn't.

Research the company. Call up headquarters, ask for projections. Look at the balance sheet. They are a franchising operation right? See how many branches diminished in 2009. You have to look at it from an investors point of view to see if they are on the brink, or can pull through.

Well I know they aren't doing great, that's known. But from what corporate says, the Lancaster store is fine. Really the only concern with that is WTF happens? Severance, unemployment, or nothing?

I'm an autotech at best buy and like it a lot personally.

It's true there aren't many sub/amp installs, but I am into car electronics in general. I don't mind doing satellites, especially if I can do a clean custom mounting with it.

I see it as a career for me. When I first was hired, I thought I was an all-knowing guru of 12v products. I now realize I didn't know shit then. They payed for me to get my mecp basic and I got to learn a lot about the industry. Even though I become pissed sometimes (especially this time of the year with all the remote starts) I like going into work the majority of the time. The only thing I don't like is that the lead at my store is someone who half-***** his work. I've been looking to transfer bays for a bit...

It's ultimately up to you. How much of a pay difference are you talking about? Btw if you're not certified, doing so will basically give you an auto-raise.

I see the 12v industry as a career.

Best buy has given me a good starting platform.
