True that! I just wanted to know what kind of competition is out there.

I wouldn't even consider a W6... I've heard both, and the JL does everything better, according my ears. Much more versatile. I honestly think the price jump from W3 to W6 isn't worth it. I could have gone with 2 W6's or something... my system was originally going to use 3 type R's... but I sold them off, (cept for my one, which my gf now uses). The 1 W7 does a lot more than the 3 type R's could. I sold my 1000/1 too, as a 500/1 was all that I needed. So now, I sit with a 500/1, a 450/4 my W7, and am really happy.

As far as I'm concerned the W7 is the be all end all in terms of JL... I don't know why you'd argue. You prefer XR's over ZR's, too?

I was more interested in other brands... so yeah, more than half of this thread should be non-JL.

magnum will be louder. when i was competing the closest a W7 ever came to my score was 3.xxDb, one install i competed against was 7Db down from mine.

W7's can get loud, but others can get louder.

Until you do a direct swap out in your install you can't be 100% sure.Maybe the install/box was of lesser quality than how yours was set-up?You never know.Too many variables.

Might be to your ears. But on even on jl's website they have said the jl w6v2 sounded more accurate and tight. They mentioned that if you are going for sq, the w6 is a better alternative. Now if you want the sql, then the w7 is for you. All that matters is that you are happy. Personally I would have keep the type r 10's and ran the 1000 one. I just dont see how 1 10w7 off 500 watts could be louder than 3 10 type r's off the 1000/1. I can say that now that my Dls Iridium 10 is broken in, it is easily the best sounding sub I have EVER heard. By the best sounding I do NOT mean the loudest, though it is plenty loud, the richness and detail of the bass is unmatched by any other sub I have ever heard. no, hes not kidding. many RTA's agree, magnums get louder than W7's. many ears agree they are on par if not more pleasing SQ wise.

In a sealed box, I really doubt how that is possible, unless power was limited or the magnum was driven beyond it's Xmax. The W7 has a decent amount more linear displacement.
