would you say a Jl W6 or W7 works better in a ported or sealed box???

depends on what you want as far as output / sound quallity

i liked my 12w6 really well in a 1.25 sealed box. i had a 13w7 in the prowedge box that was pretty good, but i don't remeber the size of it.

If you are after the best sound out of either, they both do better in a sealed enclosure and one a little bit bigger than the JL spec. You could run the W7 in a ported box an get really good performance out of it but you don't want to think about how big that box is going to be.
