Yo, how come so many people in here rip on JL products?? From my take, it seems that it's just because they are higher priced than most other equipment.

i hear ya dinx. i know there are plenty of excellent brands out there, and i am not blindly going with the cliche that anything JL is the best. i just dont understand why people are so quick to criticize JLs when they are mentioned.

I have always loved JL. Been using them since '92 when I built my first system. Started with a single 10w1. Honestly one of the best sounding subs I have ever heard and pretty loud for a single normal throw 10 with only 120 watts. Moved from there to 6 10w6s powered with around 1kW. Same great sound quality and much louder than I could ever need. I would go with JL again for the system I am building but they don't make a sub with the displacement I want that will work with the power I have on hand. People can hate on them all they want, but that doesn't keep people from consistently winning with their product. Yeah their stuff is expensive, but in their defense they are very supportive of their dealer network and help them by not making their product available online. Well trained installers and knowledgable people are vital to the survival of the industry. Combine good people with a great product and you get a real asset to the industry.

I dont think once i have heard people say JL makes bad products, i personally don't really think the W7 is worth the money, along with the rest of their stuff. Don't get me wrong, it is all quality stuff, but if you can get quality stuff for half the price, i'm there. Honestly it is awesome stuff and i fyou have the money it is probably worth it, but its not to say you couldn't get something just as good or better for much less money.

I've never once seen anyone just blindly say that JL makes bad products...........probably because they don't. The issue that is brought up is their price.

what up yall. all awesome comments so far. sorry if it seemed like i was trying to say that people criticized JL's quality, which i have honestly never seen a post implying that. i was just curious as to why there are so many JL critics when JL's quality and reputation is as good as it is. yes, they make expensive products, and i just got the impression some of the members were overly critical of JLs because they are sold at a premium price.

I haven't seen that many people complain about it. Either you want to spend that much money or ya don't.

I have found over the years using JL's that they blow too easy. I have owned 3 12w6's, 1 12w3, 1 12w4d4 blew two of them. My friend has also blown two, we're not overpowering them, they just aren't tough enough. Thats why a couple of dealers I know dropped them.
