I hope this isn't in the wrong board. anyway, I installed tow jl audio 15's (2ohm dvc) I think they are w4's. The recommended air space is 2.25 ft^3 and 200 watts rms. Is this 200 watts per coil or woofer?

I hope it is woofer.

I went with the recommeded specs with a rockford 801s (2x200 rms @ 4ohm) and 2.25 ft^3. The woofers are not very loud and do not have that hard hitting bass like I know they should. you can't even feel them in the air. Also, they pop when you turn the radio up. But even here, they aren't that loud.

I think the box is too small, am I right or wrong? What should be My next step.

p.s. I tested the woofers and each v.c. resists at ~2.4 ohms

Um, first of all I dont think JL Audio has ever made a W4 woofer....although I could be wrong. Second, the box isnt too big but maybe it has an air leak. The popping sound isnt normal and may be a problem with the sub, and turn up your gains on the amp so that it gets louder. Plus with 400 watts I dont know what kinda bass your expecting....it shouldnt be too loud

If they are popping, are the bottoming out? Or mabey the tinsel leads(sp?) are getting a bad connection? Do the woofers move violently when the pop?
