JL Audio Box Design

Was looking to add a single 12" or 13.5" JL Audio W7 in my truck and power it off the HD1200.1. I was wondering if I should build the box to JL specs which is for the 12" 1.75 cu ft net tuned to 36 hertz and for the 13.5" 2.375 cu ft net tuned to 34 hertz.

I was thinking should I go bigger on the box for the 12" and 13". If I decide to go with the 12" would 2 cu ft net tuned to 34 hertz work and for the 13.5" between 2.5 - 3 cu ft net tuned to 34 hertz. For the 13.5" I need a exact number net as I don't know too much on what will sound good with this particular size sub.

Also how would this compare against 2 12" Sundown SA on same power and maybe a single Sundown X 12?

They arent too box picky to be honest. Built to specs will work, a bit bigger will work as well

Proper prices for w7 12s is 200 to 250. W7 13.5 would be 300 to 400. If you pay retail, you are getting buttraped.

Two Sa 12s would be louder then Jl w7 in output forsure. A X 12 would murder a Jl w7 in every single way.

I have no experiences w7 box siezes. What would you personally put the 12 w7 and 13 w7 in?

Right now I have 2 10" JL Audio WXv2 running off a 500watt amp in a prefab box. (250RMS per sub). Would single W7 setup and single Sundown X setup and 2 12" Sundown SA be louder than this?

All three options would be much louder (especially since you have to get a custom box for the higher end subwoofers to make them sound right, that alone will significantly increase output). If you have the space for it, two SA 12s in a custom box would be great for a daily driver.
If you don't have the space then get a good quality 12 inch in a custom ported box. Sundown x/Jl W7 are good subwoofers but are priced too high for my liking (lot of good options out there for significantly cheaper, such as FI BL and SSA ICON).

So would a 12 w7 in 2-2.25 cubes net tuned 34, 13 w7 in 3-3.5 cubes net tuned 34, and 12 Sundown X in 2.5 cubes net tuned to 32 or 34 hertz be good box sizes?

JL's work with better with a lower tuning, IMO.

Can anyone give me a good box size. For the 13w7 was thinking 3 cubes net tuned to 32. And for the sundown x 12 was thinking either 2.5 or 3 or 3.5 cubes net tuned to 32 can anyone chime in on a box for either one.
