JL Audio Bass knob for slash series amps

Does anyone have one of these, I think its part # RBC-1. All the descriptions for this thing are very vague. With the knob can you actually reduce the output, or does the knob only increase the output? I'm actually wanted that control up front because I'm having a 13W7 on a 1000/1 and I'm not going to want it so loud ALL the time. If the knob will only increase output it is useless to me.

It will do both. It only controls the bass boost, but it will decrease the sound as well as increase the sound. The bass boost switch on the amp HAS to be turned ON!

Get this instead. It goes inline with the RCAs and changes the input voltage instead of using bass boost. Set your gains with it all the way up and you will be fine.

Unfortunately that wouldn't work for me. I'm using speaker level inputs into the JL amp, I'm using the stock deck in the 02 Escalade, I'm tapping off the Subwoofer leads and going right into the amp.
