ok so after reading the gain setting thread(http://www.icixsound.com/vb/showthread.php?t=27819&highlight=gain+settings)

it says

The formula is sq root of Watts x resistance(ohm load)

so if im using a JL Audio 1000/1V2 and running it at 1 ohm off 2 12s then id do

1000 x 1 = 1000 and the sqrt would be 31.62 so id use the DMM to get a 31.62v or is that wrong?

also if anyone else has this amp and has it already set could you help me out and tell me what they should be set at because im working on my homies system right now and he wants it as fast as possible but i dont have a DMM so id have to wait awhile before i could get one so any help?

that is why I will never buy JL....and I have seen too many of their subs break from abuse:crap:
their subs are good quality, but not really made for abuse as you said.... I just really like the slash series amps putting out their rated watts 1.5-4 ohms.... a really nice feature and I can tell a huge difference between that and a lot of other amps rated @ the same power

nice that the sub will get the same power no matter what the resistance change is:D

I am enjoying my PA bb amps because of their fully regulated power supplies....1250w with between 11 and 15v input:D

I guess a pos to their subs is they get moving with little power...... very sensitive

hes been running it at 1 ohm(just had it by ear before as you had said but i just wanted to make sure nuthing is wrong as its me doing the new box and stuff so just want to make sure everything is cool with it) on the same Lightning audio subs that are rated at 500rms and they bang in his 00 grand marquis the amp can take some abuse same with the subs i would have figured it would have craped out by now but it still is going really strong...

No to disagree with you on this one, but I ran a 12w0 for around a year with 600rms going to it, a perfect match on a sealed box, took it like a champ and sounded awsome.

Now Im running 1,000 to a single RSD and its taking it almost perfect, will upgrade to the RSDC...
